Lang-ay - 5th Anniversary

12th October 2024

This year celebrates the 5th anniversary of the Langy-ay Group's Frankfurt Chapter, a significant milestone in their ongoing efforts to revitalize culture and empower the community. Over the past five years, the group has made remarkable progress in preserving traditional practices, promoting their native language, and strengthening ties between younger generations and their cultural heritage.

General Assembly
21st September 2024

in Munich, Germany

Our get-together with our members wasn’t just an ordinary meeting; it was a time to reconnect with the traditions that have been passed down through generations. Each sound, movement, and word carried the spirit of our ancestors, reminding us of the deep connections that unite us across distances and time.

We shared stories, exchanged knowledge, and strengthened the bonds that make our community so unique. The assembly wasn’t just about discussions or decisions—it was about preserving and celebrating the living culture that defines us.

We are deeply grateful to all who traveled to Munich and took part in the General Assembly of CGO e. V.

Your presence and contributions made this gathering truly special, and together, we continue to honor our shared heritage and look towards the future.

Matagotako!

We are pleased to introduce our new Board Members and the Council of Elders, with special thanks to our guest speaker, Atty. Cheryl L. Daytec-Yañgot.

Thank you, Atty. Cheryl L. Daytec-Yañgot, for your insightful advice and for joining us at our General Assembly!

The sound of gongs echoed through the air, traditional dances infused the space with vibrant energy, and ancestral songs were sung with heartfelt passion.

Our indigenous heritage came to life in every moment as we gathered to celebrate and honor our roots.

BBQ-Weekend in Richard's Garden
- Frankfurt a. M. -
24th August 2024

The gongs were again resounding, foods were served like watwat, jamming was lively overnight and bonfire held until morning. It was another amazing gathering too brief but worthy. Thank you Lang-ay chapter for hosting the weekend community camp.

Looking back (2022-2023)

Mt. Etna in South Italy

Promoting physical fitness through outdoor activities like climbing mountains is a fantastic initiative. The Igorots climbing Mt. Etna in South Italy is not only a testament to their endurance and spirit but also serves as inspiration for others to explore their own natural landscapes, like the Cordillera mountains.

Using local mountains as motivations can indeed be powerful. The Cordillera mountains are rich in cultural significance and natural beauty, offering a challenging yet rewarding terrain for outdoor enthusiasts. By highlighting the achievements of the Igorots and connecting them with the Cordillera mountains, you can encourage people to embrace physical activity, explore their surroundings, and appreciate the beauty of nature in their own region. This can foster a sense of pride, community, and connection to the land among the people living in the Cordilleras.

Malta

August 27, 2023
It's wonderful to hear about CGO members celebrating their anniversary with fellow Cordillerans in Malta! Celebrating milestones and achievements together strengthens bonds within the community and fosters a sense of unity and belonging. Despite being far from home, coming together in a foreign land to commemorate such occasions reinforces cultural identity and creates lasting memories.

Such gatherings also provide opportunities for sharing experiences, traditions, and stories from the Cordilleras, promoting cultural exchange and understanding among Cordillerans living abroad. Additionally, celebrating in a diverse setting like Malta allows for the exploration of different cultures and perspectives, enriching the overall experience.

Overall, events like these not only mark important milestones but also serve to build and strengthen the Cordilleran community, regardless of geographical distance.

Their theme:
"Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, working together is success."

Gong-Workshop

March 25-26, 2023

A Successful first Gong-Workshop:

Balangbang of Mountain Province with enthusiastic participation from individuals hailing from various provinces of Cordillera and beyond, including non-Igorot attendees.

It's worth noting that members of the media actively engaged in a project highlighting minority cultures in Munich.

We extend our sincere thanks to our sponsors, kailyan, and friends for their invaluable support. Special appreciation to Troy for his excellent facilitation and Violeta for her outstanding organizational efforts. We eagerly anticipate another fulfilling workshop soon.
