Introducing Our Respected Council of Elders.

Explore Their Remarkable Stories and Contributions:

Ruth Broy

"I'm Ruth Broy, formerly Ruth Lindaoan (Lindawan), from Lucnab near Baguio City. I come from the Mandek-ey-Kalanguya lineage, belonging to the Paris-Ultina clan, pioneers from Tokukan-Amlimay Buguias, Benguet.

In 1985, I moved to Germany where I started a new chapter with a Bavarian, and we were blessed with four children—two sons and two daughters. Despite limited formal education, my curiosity and adaptability, born in the Year of the Rat (1960, Chinese calendar), guided me through the intricacies of a foreign culture.

Today, my children embody multiculturalism, straddling two worlds. I hope my grandchildren will embrace the richness of Igorot heritage as they forge their own paths in life."

Victor Ban-eg

"I am Victor Ban-eg, a proud member of the Kankana-ey tribe from Pingad, Sabangan, located in the Mountain Province of the Philippines.

In the early 1990s, my wife Dominga Ban-eg and I embarked on a journey that took us far from our homeland to Germany, where we are now settled in Berlin.

Our journey reflects not only our personal quest for growth and opportunity but also our commitment to preserving and sharing the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines."

Judith Graml-Bayer

"I am Judith Graml-Bayer, from the vibrant city of Tabuk in the Province of Kalinga.

In the autumn of 1987, I started my journey that carried me across continents to the welcoming embrace of German soil, where I have since woven the threads of my life into a tapestry of cultural diversity.

My lineage traces back to the enchanting landscapes of Sagada through my mother and the rugged terrain of Besao through my father."

Severino Oblas

"I'm Severino Oblas, to my friends also known as "Rhino," from Beckel, La Trinidad, Benguet Province. My roots are deeply embedded in our diverse heritage, with my mother from La Trinidad and my father from Suyoc, Mankayan. Our tribe boasts a rich mixture of Ibaloi, Kankana-ey, Mandek-ey, and Kalanguya heritage, reflecting the diverse cultural tapestry of our region.

In April 1991, I began a new journey to settle permanently in Germany together with my German wife & son after spending some time in Saudi Arabia until October 1990, followed by a brief interlude back home in the Philippines. I embraced a life filled with diverse experiences and family joys."

Lany Miehle

"I'm Lany Bagtila Miehle, originally from Lucnab in Baguio City.

My roots delve into the heart of Benguet, with my father's roots stemming from Tuding, Itogon, and extending further to Suyoc Mankayan. My mother's origins trace back to Lucnab, intertwining with the rich heritage of Buguias. Our family proudly represents the Kankanaey and Kalangoya tribes.

In January 1989, I began my journey to Germany, accompanied by the blessings of parenthood as I welcomed two children into my life. Throughout this journey, I carried with me the essence of my ancestral lands, infused with the hope of embracing new experiences and opportunities."

Alfred Atombio

"I am Alfred Atombio, also known as 'Kiri', a member of the Kankana-ey tribe from the village of Cagubatan in Tadian, Mountain Province.

In 2004, I embarked on a journey that led me from the landscapes of my hometown to the bustling streets of Germany. Today, I stand before you, carrying the stories and traditions of my heritage while embracing the opportunities and challenges of life abroad."

Herminia Lacbawan

"I'm Herminia Lacbawan from Baguio, Philippines. I belong to the Kankanaey tribe, with roots in Mangkayan (on my mother's side) and Sagada (on my father's side) in the Cordillera mountains.

In 1988, I moved to Germany, where I embraced new cultures and gained valuable insights. I believe in the importance of diversity and understanding different cultures.

My Kankanaey heritage taught me the values of community, respect for nature, and resilience.

Today, I carry the warmth of Baguio, the Kankanaey spirit, and the lessons from my multicultural upbringing"
